Student's brother got A piggie (anyone work in a school?

Hello...I'm Karen from the US. I work in a kindergarten classroom with a special student and her class and teacher. Her 8 year old, 3rd grade brother told me yesterday:

"I got a new guinea pig." Me: Just one? " Yeah, from my grandmother". Also Christmas was mentioned.

I wish I didn't know. My kids both wonder why I told THEM! I'm just really scared of hearing bad news, cringeworthy care practices, the dreaded mother saying "it's his job to take care of IT"

But I guess I could take a more positive attitude. He now knows they always need a friend. And that there's lots to read about it. And that I have a lot of knowledge if needed.

Sigh. Stay tuned.
