Lots of people have softies for their piggies to snuggle into. Even bonded pairs won't always sleep togther so it's nice for them to have a softie to cuddle if they want to. zzz
When I was hand-rearing Caramel's babies, I put a small soft Cow & Gate cow in to keep the two weaker babies, Cocoa and Cotton company in between feeds. They couldn't follow their mum or siblings around you see, so they were often left out and I didn't want them to feel abandoned while I slept for the two hours between feeding them.
I would just make sure there are no loose bits, or small things that might come off, or fluff that may molt or pull out etc...
There you can see the cow, little baby Cotton before she passed away and Pancake, the big boy cuddling up to her - who is now quite a big boar x) They were under a week old when this was taken.
It's such a cute idea! But yeah you do have to be careful with little bits. I put a guinea pig teddy in with my boar Peanut not long ago but he seemed quite frustrated with it and just humped it half to death in the end! Bit embarrassing! :x
Our boy Duke used to have a soft dog toy......Brownie........ i took the glass eyes off and drew them on so he couldn't chew them off! Duke loved to chew things.....
But yes the rescues use stuffed toys but again, nothing that can be chewed off and harm them
