Took on 4 unwanted female guinea pigs yesterday. Sickening attitude towards them and to be frank glad they are away !

Just giving one a cuddle there and thought I saw a little bald patch. Investigated and found she actually has FOUR nipples.

Is this normal!? I've never seen this before :eek:
 
I cant say I have, could you post a picture, how are they positioned?
 
They are the same distance apart from her normal nipples, and the same distance away from her belly button as the normal ones. I'll try get a pic , shes quite squirmy though. Probably because she's not used to me
 
As a rule they have 2, but I have read that it's not uncommon for them to one or 2 extra. ;)
 
so pleased you got them away from a bad situation.What are you housing them in and is there a chance any are pregnant

They are in a two teir indoor hutch at night and outside during the day while the weather is still ok. I triple checked and they are all girls, the one in question is rather pear shaped but I can't feel anything obvious although she rumbles and teeth chatters when I touch her full stop never mind trying to get her to sit calm and still! I didn't see any other guinea pigs around to be certain that they were anything other than chubby

Some sows can be naturally very pear-shaped as adults, but you are welcome to open a thread in our pregnancy section for information and support until you know for sure one way or other.

Four nipples are rare, but they happen.
 
Feeling like a bit of a mug tbh :( And the owner said they've no been handled much because they've lost interest in them etc. Just makes me sad :( Defo the last, and once they are rehomed in nice homes I'll be sticking to volunteering for SSPCA if they let me foster
 
Rescuing is not an easy task and a huge commitment.
