an also does anyone have any experiance of litter trainig? just i would love to be able to let my gals out in the sitting room, p.s they are 6 month old x

Hi

Here is a link to a sticky on Nail Clipping http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=61&highlight=nail+clipping and on guinealynx http://www.guinealynx.info/nails.html

If it's your first time trimming nails, I would recomend going to the vet to show you how it's done - as piggies have a quick in their nails which can bleed if you cut it. Darker nails are harder to trim they clear nails because your can't see the quick.

We find nail trimming a 2 person job, one of us holds the other trims.

I can't help with litter training, I just pick the poo up after them!

I can cut them on my own but it does take some practice there are some good tutorials on you tube

Sport_billy has given you a good link there. Its all about practice really. Usually you need to cut nails when you see that their little toes arent sitting in line and the nails are causing them to not place there feet properly. But you tend to get used to the usual length of the nail and then you can avoid this by cutting them a little earlier. (i dont know if any of that makes sense)

As for litter training, i dont have much advise. But what i have found that if i let the herd out for floor time, having a cat basket open with some hay/bedding in works well for me. They usually pop in and out and do their wee's (tho not necessarily their poos in there. Only a few accidents.

x.

some good advice there but I just want to add there's no such thing as a stupid question... everyone has to learn at some point
