Just thought I would let you all know about the food my pigs are currently on which is Greenwoods guinea pig food, a pellet variety that I stumbled across when browsing zooplus.

http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/food/guinea_pig/greenwoods/303760

The ingredients are as followed:
Alfalfa, wheat bran, oat bran, wheat, oats, carrots, meadow hay cobs*, sunflower bran, rapeseed bran, alfalfa stalks, peppers, parsnips, linseed, bran, malt culms, squash, brewer's yeast, calcium carbonate, nettle leaves, plantain, fennel, liquorice root, marshmallow root, rosemary, aniseed, knotweed , thyme, sage, yarrow, chamomile, yucca schidigera.

* meadow hay cobs: timothy, meadow fescue, cat's tail, meadow foxtail, red fescue, smooth meadow grass, bent grass, birdsfoot trefoil, white clover, dandelion, plantain, yarrow, cow parsley, red clover, daisies, saxifrage, chickweed, goose grass, cowslips, dock.

I'm not fond of all the bran but love the fact that hay cobs make up a large portion of the food and that they contain such a variety of grasses, hays, herbs and natural plants. The food is natural and free from artificial colourings, preservatives, antioxidants etc as well as containing no added sugar. I'm pretty impressed by the vitamin C content which is 540mg/kg. The calcium content in these pellets is 0.7% whilst the phosphorus is 0.5% so nicely balanced. The pellets are quite small in size and round in shape, to be honest they look rather similar to rabbit poos but don't let that put you off lol. :))

All 5 of my boys tuck in straight away and there's no wastage either, they really seem to enjoy it and even my old boy Percy can merrily chomp away as the pellets are of such a manageable size, compared to the burgess ones which were huge! If you have any other questions regarding the pellets then please ask, I'll do my best to answer them :)

Might try them for my very fussy lot. Although they eat plenty of hay and fresh I do worry that 2 of them don't seem to eat any of the complete food - although they will all eat Excel at some point, just not every day :))

I am very interested in this as my piggies aren't eating much of their Burgess pellets these days

I've just tried these in the last couple of days and my piggies have gone nuts for them and eating them ahead of the harrington's pellets. They are really picky and have tried them on loads of different nuggets before (burgess, science selective, cavy cuisine)

so it's a thumbs up from my lot.
