Introduced my 6 month female with rescued neutered boar, this was the second attempt and gave buddy bath before hand. It seemed that jasper was boss as after a bit of nipping daisy submitted and they were eating together. They are now in the cage which I have scrupulously cleaned and rinsed with vinegar water. Daisy is now not sure about being submissive and has tried to mount jasper, lots of chasing and bunny hops. I am like a nervous wreck, is this normal. I may be up all night.

As long as you don't see any dangers signs (link below), you just have to sit it out - not easy, I know, especially for the first time! So far, it sounds perfectly par for the course and I would stop worrying.

Generally, it is a very good sign if a sow is submitting right at the start, that means that she has accepted Jasper as her mate. They are now in the dominance phase working out who has how much say in their relationship. This can last a few days, but fall-outs are quite rare after full initial acceptance has happened. Just make sure that they don't have any hideys with just one exit until they settle down and the hormones are running out, so nopig can be/feel trapped.

I am worried about going to bed, how likely are they to fight seriously. They have had a nap and are both eating now but they do keep having a little chase n rumblestrut.

Daisyvis licking jasper now on his ear and cheek. Oh I so want them to get along.

When I did intros... Nerve racking! But all five girls are getting along except the young ones tend to get told off a lot. Patch nicked something off Maple, Maple chased after her there was an disagreement and Maple appeared with the food and Patch was sulking. That was amusing to hear that story.

They are kissing and all is well; Daisy is telling Jasper that she is totally in love with him!

You will have to get used to the chasing and rumblestrutting - that is very much part of the bonding process in cross gender pairs and you will see repeats whenever Daisy comes into season; if anything, it reaffirms and deepens their bond.

Yours are telling each other very much how desirable they find each other, so please stop fretting and go to bed with an easy mind! You have two piggies that are very much in love and not in any danger whatsoever of fighting! :))

(PS: I have quite often wondered whether a husboar in love has any vocabulary left apart from rumbling and strutting - except for the food wheek of course!)

Thank you. I refrained from checking them in the night and all is well this morning.

Now they are having their first breakfast together, would it be ok to give them floor time together or should I let them settle into their life together first.

We would tend to leave them together in their cage, with a huge pile of hay so they can get totally familiar with each other before bringing them out for run time. Just keep talking to them so they know you are about... :)

P.s don't forget the photo's ;)

Lisa & Ali..

Now I dont want to sound thick but daisy seems to want to put her chin on jaspers back, its not like mounting cos she doesnt raise her front paws but she kinda wants to rub her chin on him and then they have a little squabble/ chase. The next thing they are both eating, funny piggies. Is this ok, daisys not trying to take over control is she.
