Hi

I am trying to be brave, but not really doing a very good job. It looks as though the dhorrible time has come to have one of my beautiful piggies PTS. We have been going to the vet (an experienced cavy vet) for a few months now. Sweepy has an inoperable growth on his back, it is now getting worse and no matter what we try is not going to get better 8... 8...
Because I will be an emotional wreck when I take him, does anybody have any idea how much this is going to cost? I wont be in any fit state to tap pin numbers in a machine so would just rather take cash with me. 8...8...
Thanks

So sorry you are at this stage with your piggie :(. I think we paid somewhere between £30-£40 for our piggie pts last year.

Sending you best wishes at this difficult time xx

Oh no, I am sorry to hear this :(

As for cost, it varies from vet to vet. I'd say anything from £25 upwards. If I were you, I would phone your vet and ask just so you are sure. If you can't do it, ask someone to do it for you.

When I had my Eleanor PTS :( I didn't pay as I was kind of working there so she didn't charge me but I know it is the gas that costs the money so I guess it depends how much they charge for that.

Make sure that your vet knows your wishes beforehand. Ellie was wrapped in a towel for me so I could bring her home to be buried. I couldn't face seeing her after she had died :( but that's just me xx

So sorry to read this, 2 of our girls have been PTS. I think it was around £30 mark.

Really good advice from Claire above. It's an awful decision to make but one made out of complete love. I am so sorry, will be thinking of you and Sweepy x x

Knowing that this is what you are faced with and it is an awful decision to have to make, could you not either pre pay as you make the appointment so that you can leave straight away, or will your vet trust you as a valid customer to pay a day or two later. So sorry for you and Sweep, but this is your last act of love for him (((hugs to you both)))
