Adult Guinea Pig
Some of you may have already seen this on my Facebook, but yesterday I came home to the biggest shock...Pumpkin, my rescue pig who I got 2 weeks ago, had given birth to two stillborn, premature pups. Poor little girl is only 14 weeks old herself.
She hasn't gained weight the past two weeks at all, I noticed she was a little rounded but didn't think anything of it as she does enjoy her food.
She came from a huge garden where around 40 pigs were left to roam free, and then the local animal charity rescued them. Unfortunately they specialise more in dogs and cats so they didn't have her under close pregnancy watch, but the bloke at the rescue said they had been monitoring her.
Does anybody know what could have caused her to have had the pups so early? They were about the size of my thumb, pink, with tiny paws and ears and no fur at all
She's doing ok and acting her normal self so I think she is feeling ok but she must have been terrified!
