hi guys

please can any one help me with the dose for sudafed expectorant its for david he is 10 month old.also how many times a day?

he appears to have been sneezing and as me and elliot are just recovering from a bad cold I'm going to give him some i think.

thanks x

0.2ml 2x daily is the dosage for an adult (6mth +) pig, Nic.

Any other symptoms from him?

hi laura

thanks for that.

no, no other symptoms just sneezing, he was sneezing like a trooper this morning but now iv cleaned his cage out i havent heard him for a bit (touch wood) I'm wondering if it had anything to do with that. i got paranoid again cus me and elliot are just recovering from bad colds.

do you reckon i lay off the sudafed and hangfire with it? xx

Tough decision, I would be on alert but don't think I would dose.

I do know just what you mean though, have myself questioned if there's been a link between severe "colds" I have suffered and a pig getting sick with a respiratory infection very soon after.

For your David, he has settled after the cage cleaning, so hopefully it was just a bit of irritation in the nose.

thanks laura for your advice xx

i havent heard him sneeze tonight (fingers crossed) so I'm wondering whether indeed it was because his cage was ready for a clean. sometimes the wee can have a strong smell cant it.

iv given them a slice of orange for some extra vit c, ill b on guard. xx

It's worth noting that sudafed just treats the mucus, not the infection itself. If you are worried at all, take the piggy to the vet. They can get respiratory infections but not human colds.
