I just went to check on the pigs and I thought that River's face seem a bit puffed up. I felt her chin and she has two very large lumps (two that I could feel, anyway). They're very mobile, and squishy, but I'm concerned as they've just suddenly appeared out of nowhere and they're alarmingly big. I've also noticed that her eyes are quite watery (but that might be pollen?) and one eye is slightly bloodshot.

She's booked in to see a locum because Simon is away :( but I was hoping someone might be able to reassure me? She had three lumps (two squishy, 1 hard) removed from her chest around Easter.

Did they say if the locum is guinea pig savvy at all? Kim will be in on Thursday and Friday morning. She is booked up, but I took a piggy in today and left her with them for the morning so Kim could see her at the end of morning consults.

I assumed the locum would be, as they are covering for Simon and Kim? Our appointment is Thursday evening as Dad can't get me there sooner, and from what I gather they are still very booked up, even though Simon is not there.

I've just found a third lump in her armpit, same place as before, which she had removed.

We didn't get the lumps tested because we figured, if they were cancerous, there's nothing to be done other than remove them, which we had already done. My Mum didn't want her to have the surgery as she reckoned that when you start removing lumps, it can cause the lumps to spread. Is this what had happened? Could they be cancerous? I don't understand how I missed them, they're huge. The ones on her chin/neck make her face look really fat and puffy, which is what I noticed today.

It can be a bit hit and miss with how good a locum will be. Unfortunately for any locum, Simon and Kim are a hard act to follow.

The locum is very nice and very thorough!

River has lumps under her chin, her armpit, and also her back leg, which made her think it's her lymph nodes. She has been started on antibiotics and anti inflammatories to treat any potential abscess or systematic infection. She's going back tomorrow to have a needle aspiration, as she was showing signs of distress today after the exam and injections.

Fingers-crossed it is something treatable. I'm really worried that it's lymphoma or something again :(

Which antibiotic has she been started on? Are you taking her back in in the morning?

I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot to ask - we had a lot of piggies with us and there was lots to take in. I will find out tomorrow what it was.

I think our appointment is evening, as I need Dad to take me and he's working.

She had 0.4ml of baytril yesterday and 0.5ml of metacam.

Today, another lump was discovered, about the size on a pea, on her right hind leg. She had about five-six lumps, the ones round her chin and neck are the largest.

She had the fine needle aspiration today and spent some time in the oxygen chamber.

We have the dreaded Zithromax, and more metacam, while we wait for results.
