Junior Guinea Pig
Afternoon all,
I'm aware this should probably be in Rainbow bridge subforum which is why I've labelled sensitive up top.
One of my skinnies died a few days ago. It was very sudden, very unexpected although she was older, I'd guess about 3.5 - 4. I adopted her around 18 months ago and it was guessed she was about 18-24 months old at the time.
She has always been well, very active, ate a good diet, drank lots, never any problems with her health.
Went to clean out the pen the other morning and do the general morning top up of hay etc and she was in the corner of the pen dead. Not lay down and gone to sleep dead, I'd guessed she had some form of fit or something but after we removed her to bury her in the garden that opinion changed.
When we removed her from the pen the underside of her belly was massively bruised, like she had bled internally.
Now I KNOW guinea pigs hide illness well and I KNOW if she was unwell from the inside she would have hidden this but I just didn't get that idea from her at all, if she was ill inside I felt she didn't know. Does that make sense?
Anyway, I guess I'm posting to ask if anyone else has had this sort of issue before and what had been wrong with their piggy beforehand. She was a pink skinny, this is why it was so clear to see the internal bruising when we picked her up.
Just gutting not knowing what happened
