On Monday I came home to find both our piggies dead. One was 6 months old and the other 7 months old. My son is devastated as he met them when they were born, visited them until they were ready to leave their mums and has looked after them every day. I'm beating myself up because all I can think of is that it was from temperature change. We had kept them as indoor piggies as they seemed too little to go outside and we loved their cute little squeaks everytime they heard rustling noises. The plan was to move them into a hutch outside over Easter once the colder weather had passed but in the meantime we had moved them to the conservatory. At night I left the back door open so they didnt get too cold and had some of the heat from the house. There was a towel over one end creating shade if it was sunny. They have been in the conservatory for a few weeks with no problems. On Monday it was quite sunny and i can only assume that the conservatory heated up and I hadn't left a window open and this caused them both to die? They had water, hay etc. They had come from different owners as I wanted to avoid something like this happening incase they both got ill at the same time. They were both laying flat on their bellies with all their legs sprawled out as if they had just been pushed down flat (they weren't)
The side gate was open when we got home but I think it is pure coincidence. We have a cat but they are used to her and she is bored of them now. Is it my fault for not checking the weather forecast and knowing it was going to be sunny? We had snow the Monday before so wasn't expecting a warm day. It wasn't that warm outside but I know conservatories can be like a greenhouse
