Hello everyone I’m not too sure If this is the right place to be posting but I just needed some advice.I had to have my poor piggy put down yesterday and I just want to make sure I did the right thing. We had had him for about 3/4 years and we didn’t jnow how old he was when we got him but I’m sure he was fully grown then.He had been he’s usal self the night before( they live in a shed which is well heated it’s more like a conservancy which I go out too everyday and they have the whole garden boarded of to run around in) and I found him lying on his side in his cage unable to move and I knew this wasn’t like him as he is usually lively and running around, I took him out of his cage ( he lives with my blind bunny I know every one will say it’s bad to keep them together but they loved each other and I couldn’t them apart as neither would settle ) and she was just laying next to him, I decided to take him too the vets and he said they could try steriods but they don’t think that it would help and the kindest option was to put the poor boy to sleep, I just feel so bad and I just want to know if any one knows what the problem was and if I did the right thing, and I know this ain’t for bunnies but how I could stop my bunny mourning too much ( I know she will ) thanks x

I can’t really provide much explanation. The only thing I can think of is maybe your bunny accidentally ran into him and crushed him? sorry for your loss. x

Hello

Sorry for your loss. Could be something like a heart attack or stroke. There is no way to predict or prevent this I am afraid and only a post mortem would show the cause of death.

Your poor Bun I bet they upset as they too are social animals.

I would advise joining Rabbits United Forum and asking for advice on your bunny

So sorry for your loss. Piggies hide their illness until they are very poorly so don’t feel bad. Think of the lovely memories you have and find a new bunny partner for your bun x
