Hi

Sadly I went to feed my pigs tonight to find that Bob had died :-( I've had pigs for over 25 years and its still very upsetting to find one of your friends has gone over the rainbow bridge. What a found really upsetting was when I picked him out the hutch he had poo in his mouth!? Why would there be poo in his mouth? he had hay, fresh food, water and dried food all avalible. He had plenty of weight on him and though outside in the shed I have a heater in there - could it have been the cold? I've never seen this before! I'm upset I've missed something.
Whats also upsetting is that Bob's girlfriend - Mojo is now on her own - she's aggresive with other females so I'd put her and Bob together as Bob bless him was infertile so I thought they would be company for each other. Now I have the dilema of what to do - any suggustions?

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section but I didn't really know where to post this.

Thanks xx

sorry for your loss. I can't help witht the poo issue. As for Mojo, have you got the possibility to take her to a rescue where she could find/choose her mate? I did that with my late Bertie who chose to have Finlay as his friend.

So sorry tohear of your loss, I do think piggy dating might be the way to go x

I'm so sorry for your loss xx MrsM and Romily have the right idea perhaps speak to your local rescue to sort out some piggie dates?

I'm so sorry to hear this. RIP little piggie, it must have been quite a shock for you.

He must have been eating his poo when he passed bless him. Please dont blame yourself, piggies are v good at hiding being sick, even if he was putting weight on.

Me and the piggies are thinking of you.

x.

So sad, as Abi said, probably eating poo which is normal. Nothing to beat yourself up about. Hope you manage to find a friend for Mojo. x

hon, i think any guinea pig would die happy if it was chomping on a poo....

So so sorry about Bob, so sad, you must be devastated...at least it must have been quick for him and it doesnt sound like he has suffered.

Thinking of you xx

rip fella x

I'm so sorry to hear you have lost your beloved Bob so suddenly Fay.

Please don;t be too upset about how you found him. If he was eating a caecotroph/poo while he passed it is unlikely to be the cold per se. It sounds like he may have had a heart attack. It was clearly sudden......otherwise he wouldn;t have been eating..you would have seen signs..and therefore he didn;t suffer. Bless him.

There was nothing you could have done to prevent this.

You haven;t said how old Bob was...but even young piggies can have heart problems.

Run free at the Bridge Bob. Hugs to you Fay

x

:( RIP Bob...There's lots of cucumber, peppers, dandelions, carrots, and tons of green spaghetti waiting for you over at Rainbow Bridge. xxxxx
