Hello,
I am babysitting two guinea pigs for a friend for the summer. They are both males, between 2-3 years old. They have been at my house for one week as of today.
On Friday, I played with Zeus, and aside from looking a little disheveled he seemed fine. This morning (Sunday) when I went in to feed him, I noticed that there is a huge patch on his left flank that is nearly bald. The skin underneath looks perfectly fine - not red or irritated, and he has not been scratching. He is still eating ravenously, and the only change in behavior I've noted is that he has been less vocal today.
What thoughts might you have? I can speak to his owner about getting him to the vet, but if it stress related I fear that might exacerbate the problem. Has anyone dealt with this?
