Both of our girls were bought together almost a year ago. We noticed a lump on our Olive so we checked Hazel and she has one as well. One is on the back of the neck and the other one has one in her throat area. What are the odds they both have lumps? They are not exposed to any other cavies and they are taken care of very well. Both lumps can be moved around. Again, even if an abscess, what are the odds it would appear in both at the same time? Has anyone had this happen in multiple cavies, if so what was it?

I’m so worried!
Thanks for any advice!

That's so odd! I would think maybe it's a contagious cause, it would be a huge coincidence that both would get lumps, especially the same number in the same places!
Perhaps cervical lymphadentitis? It's caused by streptococcus bacteria, which affects the lymph nodes in the neck. The back of the neck though, I don't think there's a lymph node there...
Definitely a vet visit asap so the vet can figure it out! Good luck x

Please have your girls seen by a vet tomorrow. It may be just a coincidence.

It is very odd but I always find if one piggy needs a vet visit there is a high likelihood another one will get ill, just cos they like to throw these things at us all at once. The one in the throat area could be an abscess, I had this recently with Donald, if so it's worth getting an x-ray of the teeth to check for the possibility of a dental problem causing it as the last thing you want to do is cure it only for it to reappear again quickly. An alternative is fatty lumps, my late Peter was covered in them... had tons and I'm pretty sure he had a small one on the back of his neck. That said I didn't actually have it tested as he was elderly and had so many lumps and bumps that we had already decided enough was enough and we couldn't put him through surgery anyway.
