I’ve had daisy since the summer, I think approx 3 or 4years old (she was rescued from a bad situation by someone and given to me) so unsure of exact age.
tonight I’m watching her and she had an episode of approx 3 minutes of Being drunk like, walking in circles, falling over, banging in to the cage sides, unable to stand up straight. I pick her up and give her a once over. No sign of injury and no pain to touch. Give her a cuddle and within 2 mins she’s absolutely fine again, put her back in with her cage mate and she’s running round, eating, drinking, begging for food.
I was petrified she was dying in one moment but now seems fine. I’ll take her to the veton Monday for a check up. Has anyone experienced this with a piggie before? Should I take her to an emergency vet even though she seems fine now?

Hi!

Please have her seen as an emergency asap if happens again!
It could be a neurological problem rather than an ear infection or a stroke but we can only guess as much as you do.

No advice, but my paws are firmly crossed for her 💕xx

Sounds similar to what I experienced with Gladys... I would describe it as looking like a stroke, awful to witness 😥 hers lasted about 20 mins and I rushed her to the vets.... vet thought ear infection and within the hour she was back to normal... I dont really want to say this next bit but a month later she developed a brain tumour - we will never know if it was related or not. Please excuse me for being honest and I wish your piggy all the best x

Took daisy for a check up at the vet and she suspects a brain tumour. Have come home with some loxicom and orders to feed up as much as possible as her weight has dropped very suddenly to just under 700g.
is there anything else I can do to make her comfortable or any high calorie food to help her gain weight? Don’t want to give up her as she’s still so full of life and eating/drinking/popping.

So sorry to hear this.. did they do an xray at all? Can they treat Daisy? I think some say that oats are good for gaining weight... I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon... all the best for Daisy xx

She said we can do X-rays and investigations but doesn’t think daisy has much time left due to the severe weight loss and behaviour changes so thinks it would cause her more stress and wont cure her. I’m hoping the week of anti inflammatory drugs will help and if she shows improvement then I will go all out to help her. If not then I want her to be comfortable for whatever time she has left. Poor thing just seems hungry all the time, is eating everything in sight including the fleece. She had unlimited hay and and I’ve started separating her at tea time from
Princess who eats way faster 😢
