Junior Guinea Pig
@Wheekallweek I am going to call the CAB tomorrow and get some advice. I need to take action x
The Blue Cross (UK only) offers free pet bereavement services for adults: Pet Loss Support
But they also have a platform dedicated to children and young people where they can talk freely and confidentially if they wish to: Pet loss support for children - missing my friend | Blue Cross
I hope that this can help you. It's been such a nightmare for you all.![]()
Thank you for finding our forum such a help. We have grown to be a friendly community that is there for each other as much as we look after all the piggies - with a wide range of practical information, personal and collective experiences and moral support. None of us has to be perfect but everybody is welcome to chip in and as a total we surpass what we could do alone. The world needs more kindness.
Ours starts right here... and every adult who accepts our rules is welcome to join in. Especially seeing the way social media has sadly been going.
What a traumatic and heartbreaking thing to have happen to your dear family. It's also so tough when life has to "go on" and there is not enough space to grieve. And to be having to make decisions about their little bodies and cremation and all that, while you're still in shock.
I am so sorry for your losses of your sweet little ones. I can hear how lovingly you cared for them and I know they felt it!
Popcorn high sweet Biscuit and Shaun. Just sending care, gentleness, and support to you all![]()
I wonder if there is anyone on here that could help with this? Anyone good with words who could contact them? Or someone who works with the RSPCA? Or CABYes, I could do that.. tbh I feel pretty useless right now.. my heart has been so heavy and I’m still in a state of disbelief about what’s happened. On top of that I’m coping with my intense full time job (I work in a women’s prison) and also managing my teenagers’ ups and downs - my daughter is 15 and doing her GCSEs next May, and my son is 17 and in Upper Sixth Form, so he’s doing his A-Levels next year. I’m juggling so much whilst battling grief and depression. So I need to get my head focused on a clear plan of action to get justice for my boys. That boarder, Katie’s Bunny Boarding, has torn my life apart

Thank you.. I’m so incredibly busy at work and completely overwhelmed tbh.I wonder if there is anyone on here that could help with this? Anyone good with words who could contact them? Or someone who works with the RSPCA? Or CAB![]()
We had a guinea pig surrendered to us, a few years ago, who couldn’t move his back legs and clearly had a neurological issue. The use of Gabapentin bought him around 9 months of good quality life, with him re-gaining the use of his legs, until he started to deteriorate again and was then put to sleep xx
Also I’m taking Peanut back to the vet on Friday. I’m thinking that it might be time to think about letting him go as his quality of life is zero. My poor baby. If he goes I will have lost all 3 boys within a couple of weeksThank you.. I’m so incredibly busy at work and completely overwhelmed tbh.![]()
You'll feel so much better once you take the first step@Wheekallweek I am going to call the CAB tomorrow and get some advice. I need to take action x
Thank you.. I hope so too but I just don’t see any improvement in my little boyYou'll feel so much better once you take the first step
I hope the vet can give you some good news on Friday![]()
I feel like phoning that boarding place myself on your behalf she should be ashamed of herself for how she is behaving![]()
It doesn't sound awful I'd tell her you are contacting RSPCA, CAB and a solicitor and you demand an response within 24 hours. I'm honestly furious on your behalf![]()
Absolutely agree, go for it!It doesn't sound awful I'd tell her you are contacting RSPCA, CAB and a solicitor and you demand an response within 24 hours. I'm honestly furious on your behalf![]()
We're all with you, YOU'VE GOT THIS!Thank you. I’ll definitely do that. I’m leaving work at noon tomorrow as I’ve got a rheumatologist appointment in the afternoon, so I’ll have a bit more time to contact the relevant people. Time to start getting justice for my beloved boys![]()
Good idea!Morning hope you have managed to get some rest and Peanut is still be brave.
I had a little browse last night and it's looks like every council has an Animal Welfare department maybe they are worth contacting?
Thank you so much!Absolutely agree, go for it!

Thank you.. that’s a good idea. Apologies for my late response. I didn’t sleep well last night. Peanut is still eating and being a brave boyMorning hope you have managed to get some rest and Peanut is still be brave.

Yes, the boarder paid the very first vet bill which was £90 and she gave me my £340 back for the week’s boarding. I’ve since spent another £215 in vets fees plus Biscuit’s cremation which was £105. I’m also due to pay for Shaun’s cremation tomorrow, another £105. That’s £425 plus I’ll have another vet’s bill for Peanut tomorrow night@Julezfm39 did you say the boarder offered to pay some of the vet bill?
Could this be taken as a sign of admitting liability?
He can’t feel his back legs and he can only move around by dragging himself but he doesn’t move unless I put him in another part of the cage and then he drags himself back to the wooden house where he sat with Shaun when he was still aliveCan Peanut feel his back legs at all? If you tickle his back feet does he respond?
Can he move around even by dragging himself?
Is he incontinent urinary wise?
Sorry for all the questions![]()
I'm so sorry, it's so hard watching a piggy in that state and wondering. My heart goes out to you.He literally hasn’t moved. I don’t think he has a quality of life even though he’s eating well
Poor little fellaHe can’t feel his back legs and he can only move around by dragging himself but he doesn’t move unless I put him in another part of the cage and then he drags himself back to the wooden house where he sat with Shaun when he was still alive. Peanut is incontinent and I have to wipe his bottom. When I come home from work there is just a big pile of poop. He literally hasn’t moved
. I don’t think he has a quality of life even though he’s eating well

Thank you.. you’re right.. it’s just emotionally too much atm. On Saturday I’m collecting Biscuit’s ashes - he was my boy who died in the boarder’s “care.” At the same time I’m taking Shaun to be cremated - he died the week after coming home from the boarders. I’m emotionally a mess and just got diagnosed today with fibromyalgia so it’s a lot to handleI'm so sorry, it's so hard watching a piggy in that state and wondering. My heart goes out to you.
I'm not in the UK and don't know exactly but I'm thinking that while you're caring for Peanut and concentrating on him, you surely can wait to start writing to RSPCA and council what-nots? I mean if you just don't have the wherewithal to manage both emotionally today, tomorrow. Next week must still be okay, I hope.
