It is with very much sadness that my first post on this website is to say goodbye to my much loved guinea girl Charlie :(

She was only 3 years old and there was no seemingly known reason for her death. Whilst i know guinea pigs are very good at hiding their illnesses i just don't understand why she died.

She had a small fatty lump that had been checked but no other illnesses. I just came home last Friday to find she had died. I am truly devestated still baby girl. I feel you were too young to go, especially when i have had your friends for 7 years.

I took her friends for a check up and they are fine, clean bill of health despite being oldies. She was a very special guinea pig and god did not put her together right. She was more a long sausage shape rather than the usual piggie shape and her nose was stunted. But my vet said this should not have made her die and that i should have had a post morteum.

I am sooo very sad and don't feel at peace now that she has gone. I feel totally paranoid that i am going to lose my others.

Has anyone else experienced sudden death of their friends?

I hope my charlie is now running free and playing in the sunshine. I am sooo sorry that i was not with you, that i could not save you. Did i miss something? My heart is broken. I will never ever forget you baby girl.

All my love x

I'm so sorry for your loss. :( Please dont feel guilty.. although i know we always blame our self's don't we.. especially when they are young and seemingly healthy :( ((Sending lots of hugs your way)). Charlie was loved (And still is) and is playing and running free at rainbow bridge. Its obvious Charlie was loved and new she was loved.
R.I.P Charlie. Again.. am so sorry for your loss. x

oh I'm so sorry i really am, i havent experienced sudden losses, but i have lost all my piggles under the age of 3 1/2. Maybe it would give you closure if you had a post mortem, but also maybe not as you may not get answers? Whatever you do just take each day as it comes and in time it will get easier.

Rip to your charlie, sleep well little one x

welcome to the forum, i am sorry it is on a sad note x

Please dont be hard on yourself. Sometimes pets just die and we never know why. I lost a 6 year old dog that had been ill for about 3 days. She was in and out of the vets and even they couldnt find anything out. I spent years wondering what if I had done this..or what if....
you loved your piggie. So just keep her memories in your heart and be kind to yourself. Run free little piggie, your Mum loves you and misses you xx

Really sorry for the loss of your piggie. Big hugs to you at this sad time.

RIP Charlie

I am ever so sorry for your loss! Sudden death is sadly not uncommon in guinea pigs. :(

RIP Charlie

Sorry for your sudden loss :( It is not easy to loose a guinea pig, even when you know their time is coming. I lost my eldest piggy in the beginning of August and I still get very upset to think of how I could have changed things and how much I miss her.

I am deeply sorry for you loss. Like the others said you mustn't blame yourself sometime these things happen and in the end you did everything right for Charlie and you loved her more than anything, that is something very beautiful.

R.I.P Charlie.

So sorry. I've only had my pigs for 18 months & lost any yet ,but have had cats that have died so know how hard it is. Sounds like you did everything you could & she had a lovely life with you.
How are the other pigs doing?
take care

WHee are so very sorry to hear about your little Charlie 8...8...8...
RIP Charlie run free at the bridge, enjoy munching up the lovely long blades of grass and clover and have fun popcorning thru the lush green grassy meadows, you'll be so very sadly missed by your family but NEVER EVER forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
