Ruby started limping on Sunday morning and it's getting worse today. She lays down and sleeps a lot more. Appetite and stool are really good, no weight difference that wouldn't be within her normal usual norm.

She has a lump on her front leg slightly above the joint that's popped up without apparent reasons, it's around 5 mm thick and looks like a fatty lump to the touch if we didn't know it wasn't there the day before. Poor girl tries to hold her leg up, she does stand on it, but tries to avoid it. We though it was just a mild sprain, but she's got worse today

Any ideas what it could possibly be?

She's quite a small girl, but her weight is around 1080g.

I would get it checked out, especially that she is lame on the leg too. I could be any number of things, an abcess, a fatty lump, cyst, growth on the bone or benign lump. Anything. Please see a vet and let us know how you get on?

x.

I agree that a trip to thte vet is needed. All lumps should be checked out, but the fact that she is limping too means she needs to be seen soon.

The vast majority of lumps are nothing to worry about, but a few need dealing with because they are sinister and others because they are impacting on the pig's quality of life.

Aww poor girl. I would get her to the vet right away. A lump could be anything from a reaction or abcess to something really serious and it's always better to go to the vet to get it checked out.

Best wishes from us and fingers crossed that it's nothing serious :)

She on my avatar.
Yesterday we make an appointment - but later have to cancel because I'm not able to notice changes in your movement. She behave normal as usual (5 minutes eats 5 minutes sleep lol) and we decide to have a look.3 hours journey to vet also not easy for such unusual piggy who eats runs and sleep every 5 minutes.

It could be that if she's in pain she's wanting to lie down more...... i would be seeing a vet.....too hard to diagnose without looking at her :... and i'd honestly be there as soon as you can........remember, they hide there illnesses :(

Sending Ruby lots of healing loves and wheeeeeeeeks from us all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thats the point that looks like she not feel anything anymore. If will be any changes I bring her to Anne from Goddart straight away.I clean up piggy's cage 3 times a day and able see any small changes.

Ruby is better - she's running around as usually, is still limping a little bit, but less than yesterday and other than that her behaviour is completely back to normal. I'm beginning to think she got bitten by a spider - we've got a lot of garden spiders coming in from the garden sometimes. Is that possible? I was away 5am - 11pm working yesterday, my hubby was watching her getting better and we decided against 3 hour trip to the vet not to stress her out since she's improving.

cute video x) gee she LOVES those blueberries!
Maybe she leapt off something and strained her leg?

WHEEEEKY LOVES FOR RUBY FROM THE GIRLS AND I XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

hubby's just been to see Anna O'Meara at Ewell
like deliberately, when let out to run around the vet's room she didn't limp at all
examination didn't show anything and he was told she doesn't need an x-ray
basically, she got one anti-inflammatory injection and is supposed to recover by herself

still no idea what happened
