Hi,
Just wondered, do piggies go through a moulting cycle? Bertha is moulting like mad, poor Betty is covered in Bertha's white hairs!
She's never moulted like this before, but we've only had them 4 months so I wasn't sure if this just happened every now and again,
Thanks,
Sally

Is it coming out in little chunks or with Dandruff'y bits stuck on the end? Could it be a fungal infection?
Try combing/brushing them gently. If 5 or 6 hairs come out at once with the dandruff'y bit on the end. This could be a sign of fungal. Try looking on the gorgeous guineas website, that may help distinguish between that and any other skin problems, a balanced varied diet should help reduce general excessive hair loss.

Although my longer haired girly always seems to drop more hairs than the short haired one and they are both fit and healthy :(|). If they're indoor piggies- is the temperature constant? A warmer home may cause more hair to drop.Sorry can't really be of much help. Hopefully one of the experts on here can help? Xx

Hi GPTV thanks for replying. It seems like a general moult rather than a fungal infection. She is an indoor piggie but the temperature is fairly constant, in their room especially, tho they do come downstairs 4 ish evenings a week and it's probably warmer in the lounge then in their room.

I'll keep an eye on her and see if it turns into anything I'm more worried about
