hi , one of my motley crew was apparently born with a deformed nasal passage. this makes her snuffle at the best, and when the weather is dry she positively hoots.
up till now with my vets approval i have been giving her sudafed , which is laced with sugar to make it palatable to children

my problem is that Bella is a big sow, and i am sure the sugar is making her bigger , as well as the
other side effects.

my question
dos anyone know of a small fury decongetiont that dose not contain sugar
NB all the tests have been done , it is mechanical , not biological.

I don't know any alternatives other than maybe Bisolvon from the vets?

Am assuming heart issues have been ruled out?

I found that the sudafed didn't really make any difference, to be honest. From my experience with narrowed nasal passages in my own nose, any decongestant has the opposite effect when overused or taken long term.

After two years of repeated vet visits, Ffraid was finally diagnosed with upper and lower lower lung disease for her off-and-on crackling and hooting. Her air passages were also found to be narrowed on top of the long term damage from a not fully cured URI she'd had earlier in her life. She's still managed to outlive all her other elderly mates...

As @helen105281 says, I would consider bisolvon to help get any mucus build-up out if your feel that her usual breathing is worsening to a hoot, which is usually the sign that there is some muck stuck in the nose. You may also want to place a bowl of steaming water next to the cage to ease her breathing whenever the air is dry and if it gets really bad, you can 2 drops of olbas oil.
