Hi
Had a very sad day - I've had two 'baby' sows just under 2 weeks, and found my lovely Honey had passed away this morning :'( :'(

The vet couldn't find anything noticeably wrong, and she'd been eating happily and running round just the night before. I've had Coco checked out and the vet says she seems fine at the moment, but obviously she needs to be kept a close eye on over the next couple of weeks, and only after then can she have a new friend. We both miss Honey so much already, even after such a short time - can anyone suggest any ways to keep her from being so lonely for the next couple of weeks? (Love and attention will of course be readily available!)
:'(

I'm so sorry for your loss. Coudl have been a genetic problem. Is Coco an indoor pig? If so I'd just give her lots of attention. I would also consider getting her a friend. Were your pigs related?

thank you.. :'(
She is an indoor piggie at the moment. I got them from P&H as was having not too much luck at the local rescue centre near me, so I don't know if they were from the same litter. I would like to get her another friend once I know she's not going to be ill, would another young sow be the best (Coco is about 12 weeks old). It so horrid as well to worry I'd done something wrong :-(

Sorry to hear about your piggy. Absolutely chase this up with the pet shop, chances are poor little Honey was ill when you got her.

If your sow is still young then she could be paired with an adult or another young one. Stay away from that pet shop - perhaps someone on here could help you find a rescue piggy if you let us know where abouts you are.

I agree with DSL if you have had your pigs for less than 2 weeks P@H should give you your money back and pay for any vet fees.

Good luck!

Thanks Everyone. spoke to Pets@H and they will be giving me the money back for everything. However, I certainly don't want to risk getting another piggie from there, and would love to help a rescue. I live in Staffordshire area.

Hiya,

There is a bonded pair on here http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/g...Female&County=Staffordshire&Submit=++Search++

Also you can check out the rescues in the area http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/gp/centres.asp#Staffordshire there are only a couple sadly.

Also have a look through the rescue forum here as something may catch your eye. Are you willing to travel?

Good luck and great that P@H are refunding, they did with me too when my Sheltie had mites. Sad these things happen but good that they do give money back!

Hugs,

Louise

Great, thanks, although I will see if there is a lonely girl who might need company too :-) I'll keep an eye out on the websites over the next few weeks.
I don't mind some travel, thats no problem.
I was actually very surprised that p@H did that, they were very nice about it too, and no quibbles at all.

thanks for helping :)
