Hi there!

Was hoping for some suggestions on how I can help my older piggie as she has lost a lot of weight recently. I have taken her to the vets & they can find no underlying cause and just suggested she might be in pain as she is old. We don't know exactly how old she is as she is a rescue pig but I would estimate around 5.

She still has a good apetite though and goes as crazy for her veg as she always has.

I don't want her to just keep sliding down hill so was wondering if I could build her up somehow. I think I have heard of using baby food but am not sure what type. Something like baby rice? Made with milk or water? And I guess syringed in? How much/how often?

I do have critical care for herbivores should I use that or would the baby food help her put on more weight?

Sorry for the lots of questions but really want to get it right for my old girl.

Many thanks x>>

yess you should give her soft babbyyyy food, also try foods with more calories in like sweetcorn, chantany carrots (the little ones), peas etc. she may not like them all mind! Go for calories in the veg and some extra dried food.

My sisters used baby food for her pets when they've been ill and losing weight and had a lot of success with it. She buys ones that are just pure blended veg and fruit, but if your pig is already eating her veg I dont know if this would help her. I know my sisters mixed baby food with critical care to make it more appealing and also add some more vitamins as critical care doesnt have vitamin C in it. So you could try this if you are feeding her critical care. An alternative to baby food is just mashed veg (cheaper but harder to syringe feed)
Hope this helps.
