Mum bought this beetroot and i was wondering if it's okay for piggies to eat, it's labeled as "Cooked beetroot" thats what i'm unsure about (:

Sorry I may not be right however... I have heard that guinea pigs can eat beetroot so surely cooked shouldn't be of a problem. Whether they prefer the raw or cooked is a different question lol

Here is some info on it http://www.dried-vegetables.co.uk/beetroot.php

Not much information so sorry. If in doubt I would not give it until you are absolutely sure it is safe.

Raw beetroot is fine to feed piggies but they shouldn't have it cooked. Same with carrots for example.

Is there are reason why they cannot have cooked beetroot? Does it mess with their digestive system?

Apparently cooking it removes nutrients. There is also the factor that they need hard stuff to chew for their teeth and for roughage.
