I have 6 sows in 5x2 stacked c&c cage and I have one hide per pig but with summer weather fast approaching and already hot tempretures in the UK I need to consideranother hide alternitive for their safety and health. I have mostly dominant and stubborn sows who refuse to share. I can't drape a blanket on top of my c&c as a hide as it wouldn't work in the bottom stack. I was thinking could I just use a 2x1 fleece forest if I can get one made with tassles as privacy siding? This would increase room and also be better for air flow

What type of hides do you already have?

Things like stepping stools work well - they’re open for air flow but still sheltered

I have wooden bendy bridges which allow air flow and a hiding place.
At the moment I’ve noticed that mine are spending more time in the hay than any hidey

I have pah plastic igloos and bendy bridges, while the bendy bridges are great I still feel they clutter the cage up and mine just refuse to share.

Piggies don’t tend to share hides, it’s rather unusual if they do choose to share (with the exception of babies).

I only use bendy log bridges, their perfect being totally open at both ends.
Pigloos aren’t recommended due to being one exit but also being made of plastic isn’t ideal

So a fleece forest would be no good as a main hide if I removed two of the pigloos?

They may like a fleece forest, you won’t know until you try!

I’m assuming you have three piggies per cage?

You would still need three separate hiding places ie three hides plus a fleece forest (as a kind of bonus fun area); or two hides and a fleece forest.

What you don’t want is for a dominant to claim the forest as their own and not let the others in, so the others would still need somewhere else to go.
A fleece forest won’t become a main hide as such because it still doesn’t mean they would be prepared to share (depending on how big you would make it)

Yep I have 3 piggies per cage, I was planning to make it a 2x1 aleast and keep the wooden bridge in as they do chew on that and use it most.

You might get away with it at that size but there’s no guarantee - personally I would still want two wooden bridges in the cage as well as a fleece forest.
