Hi all summer my other darling guineapig is poorly now she had a white discharge from her eye and she is not herself atall the vets when i called them think it could be conjunctivitis i think she might have cought it of jasmine as i am still treating her for the infection. i have a emergancy appointment tonight at 6.30 at the vets summer seems to be showing more symptoms than jasmine did. vibes for my darling summer please x

wishing you and your piggies all the best and finger crossed for a swift recovery!

thank you all its horrible when there poorly i am trying my best with them but i feel like a bad piggy mummy :-(

I am so sorry that after Jasmine, Summer is now poorly as well! I'm sure that you have caught is as early as possible and send he my best get better soon wishes!

Why do these things always happen at the beginning of a bank holiday? mallethead

Aww honey it's not your fault - you are doing things great. These things just happen right?

I am glad you managed to get an emergency appointment and I hope everything gets sorted for both of them very very soon.

Hugs to you. :)

Aww hunni your not a bad piggy mummy, dont be silly.
How did she get on?

Thinking of you all xxxxx

How did the appointment go? Hope the vet was useful, given he's probably put you out of pocket!

ok just back from the vets summer hasnt got conjunctivitis but he thinks she has a upset tummy and the discarge from the eye had somthing to do with it. poor summer got 2 injections one was a antibiotic and other was to settle her gut and if she is no better on tuesday i to take her back.

Good to hear you've seen the vet. Did the vet say what was up with Summer's tummy i.e. bloat? This might seem like a daft question, so apologies if you have already considered this, but have you ruled out the chance that the white fluid was normal grooming fluid?

Hi hun i am not sure i have never seen this before and she kept squinting the eye when it happened the vet said the injection was to get her gut working and a antibiotic still in the dark as tp what is causing this but if she isnt better tuesday i will take her back

AW bless her. Sending good vibes your way. Hope she picks up.

Whats grooming fluid (sorry if i seem thick)

When piggies groom themselves, their eyes fill with a white milky fluid. Often this drains away/is spread over the hair before you notice it, but in some cases (e.g. a blocked tear duct) the fluid sits in the eye longer.

ok i am worried now i have notticed discoloured urine in her cage i dont know if its blood or somthing else its not dark red but light red should i be worried or is she gonna be ok ?

What has she been fed today? Some foods can discolour urine.

It never rains, it pours - I hope things ease up for you and Summer!

she has just had her usal hay pellets and some grass today as she isnt eating too good at the momment and thoes arent things that would discolour her urine
