EDITED BY MODS - VIDEO REMOVED

It's more to do with being in water - it's not something nature has equipped them to be able to do .To be honest - I won't even give my guineas water bowls.

I have just read the various post here reference to guinea Pigs swimming ... I will not delete this post so it might help others... I did not realise that swimming is not recommended for them, and on that basis will never put my poor piggies in water again! I will never hurt them but glad I know now !

I have deleted your video from your post.

Please can I respectfully ask (and I know I have no authority to do so) that you remove it from your you tube as it will encourage others to copy. Last year we saw numerous videos of this nature that went viral and no doubt caused distress to many more piggies as a result.

I know that you meant no harm but this is a serious issue which we see every year on the forum.
Guinea pigs are not natural swimmers. They are not enjoying the experience. They are simply trying not to drown. They cannot get out by themselves. Where you saw fun, I felt distress. Their noses are low to the ground. If water gets into their noses they can inhale and get water into their lungs. Every year piggies die from falling into water that they cannot get out from (such as ponds or pools that are not closed off to them).

As I say, I know you meant no harm but please neve do it again and if possible remove footage so that it cannot be shared. Thank you

Yes I have removed all reference on YouTube and again apologise if it caused any offence, please keep my post here as a warning though.. I feel very guilty myself now, just wanted to cool them down it was such a hot day..

As I say I will never harm my piggies, I love them and now I know will not put them in water again ..

We all learn through experiences like this. And it’s one of the reasons why this forum is so helpful and educational. I know you love your piggies and would never harm them. Your girls are clearly very well cared for.

Thank you for being so understanding, my wife felt terrible now since it was done while I was at work ... in a way I’m glad I posted it otherwise I will never know and god forbid would have carried on not knowing during summer, indeed this forum is wonderful with the fountain of info and in fact my piggies have been looked after and fed better with all the sticky threads I have read ...

The girls have all being given a big cuddle and thoroughly dried with a towel again to make sure water hasn’t got anywhere it shouldn’t ...
