Sundae seems weak in her hind end and seems to have a lean/tilt to one side... this happened quite abruptly. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when, as we were at the cottage and I don't see her move around as much (they aren't allowed out for floor time indoors there, which is when I really see them run. They do get wide open spaces outdoors there, but mostly just graze and eat the grass and do very little running around.) As far as I can pinpoint, it started abruptly a day or so ago. She is able to walk, though she looks a little wobbly doing it. She doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, is eating and drinking normally and is behaviorally very normal. I will contact my vet in the morning, but any ideas or feedback? All I can think of is a stroke or a back injury of some kind, but she has not been active enough at the cottage for me to imagine how she could have hurt herself, and she certainly doesn't have any pain or agitation when we touch or palpate her back or hips. Is there anything I can do to help her out? She is about 6.5 years old, so she's an elderly girl. :(

Sounds like it could be a ? F.C.E. ? Perhaps ask you vet about a spine stroke (f.c.e) fibrero calaginnous embolism

It might be worth getting an x-ray, just to rule out arthritis, as she is at the age when it can affect them.

Hope you find out what it is. Good luck!

It sounds like a milder stroke to me. :(

Please keep an eye on her mouth and the eye on the affected side in the coming weeks. The eye may no longer lubricate properly and dry up/get infected, and if the chewing is affected because of a weaker side, teeth can overgrow fairly quickly.

I agree that she could have had a mild stroke, but it could also be a bad flare of arthritis since she is elderly and is still able to walk.

Hopefully the vet can give you some answers soon x

She looks quite a bit better today. Her front feet seem very normal. She looks like she is avoiding putting weight on her back left foot some of the time. I'm wondering maybe arthritis or a minor foot/leg injury of some kind rather than a neurological incident now. She will be seeing the vet later in the week, as we're a few hours away right now on vacation. Until then, I will be keeping a close eye on her.

So Sundae is doing very well... she is back to walking around normally, getting in and out of the cage, etc. I am hopeful that she just hurt a foot somehow, or at the very least she is making a good recovery. She is a trooper, she has been through a lot medically. She's my tough girl! :)
