Sad sad sad.
Kim and Simon have had a busy morning trying to help Sunrise. She's passing lots of blood from her intestines. They believe that something, perhaps the antibiotics, perhaps not, sent her gut bacteria way off kilter, causing the harmful bacteria to go out of control and cause blood poisoning. She's receiving toxin binders, pain killers and I can't remember what, but it's (toxins) affecting her brain now. She doesn't have zero chance, but it's really very doubtful that she will pull through this, and if she does, there's the question of lasting neurological damage as these toxins are already affecting her brain. She is in pain, and despite the painkillers there is still some pain. When she's lucid, she's scared and stressed.
If she is to recover there should be signs in the next two hours, but by that point if she if still as she is they will help her to the Bridge.
In tears. I held it together on the phone, but not now.
Kim and Simon have never seen a reaction like this to Zithromax (and they've used it countless times), but then it really isn't normal for a guinea pig to have colitis when eating grass (as she does). Coincidence or Zithromax we don't know. Even with the colitis she has never actially been ill before, not in herself. Even with her colitis though this reaction could not have been predicted.
Only last Thursday when Kim first examined her she was very pleased with Sunrise's health and condition. I think we all thought this would be an easy ride for her....
Thank you for everyone for your best wishes. Thank you too Debbie, you've been an absolute trouper with trying to get her through this, and I know you must be upset too.
I'm sorry Sunrise. No-one could have known this was going to happen to you sweetheart. I love you x
