Hello,

There are not many animal sanctuaries in Cornwall supporting small animals.

Marias Animal Shelter, Probus, does its very best to fill this gap. It is a registered charity but not recognised by the Piggy Bank.

Maria is not asking for a financial contribution, but if you could find it in your hearts to vote for them on Facebook, they have a chance of securing some much needed funding.

I have attached the link:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Marias-Animal-Shelter-Probus-Truro-Cornwall/306299886119834

I know nothing about facebook etc (being an oldl fogey!) but they only have 35 votes so far and need a minimum of 200 to stand a chance?

They are hoping to put a request out on Radio Cornwall too........

Many thanks.

lulu and twiams,

Thank-you very much. Your votes will make a difference.

Please help this very worthy cause.

This thread has had 105 viewings but only 4 members casting a vote.....

Just bumping this up.

The Shelter currently has 123 votes and needs a minimum of 200 to secure funding of £1500.00.

They have a variety of animals - pigs, goats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs. As I mentioned before, there are not many rescue centres in this part of the country.

Thank-you Becky_lou.

If everyone who looked at this thread voted as you have done, the shelter would secure £1500.

Every vote counts!

Thanks again.

Your welcome il get my mom and a few others to vote too :)

I have checked this morning and they are now on 151 votes - feeling a bit more optimistic now.

It is a pleasure to have members like you on the forum.

Unfortunately the Shelter seems to be stuck on only 170 votes. They have until the end of August to get 30 more. Please. please help - it is a simple (and cost free) way of them securing £1500.00.
I visited them on Sunday and they had 5 new arrivals - a mother and 4 mini-pigs (3 weeks old). These poor darlings had been kept in a circular child's play tub.....heartbreaking.

I'm really sorry to hear that if there's anything more i can do?

Anything you can do to encourage a few more people to vote would be greatly appreciated!

By the way if you look in the re-homing section of this forum under "Lone Ranger and Tonto" you will see two of the most gorgeous guineas from the shelter. These are the real beneficiaries of your kindness.

Thank-you - now up to 174. Only 26 more people needing to vote.

Please spread the word - you are doing a grand job!

Just bumping this thread up - please vote and help this Cornish shelter.

Crossing my fingers for you will try find some more votes :)

YIPPEE! Checked today and they have over 200 votes so have secured the £1500 in funding. So very pleased for them - thanks to everyone on here who voted.
