Hello
in a few wheeks Sophie my beloved piggie will be having surgery
she has a fractured rib and it is poking her side
i am very nervous because there is a chance she could die.
i will continue to post what happens when the surgery comes

She is only 1 1/2 years old she will be 2 in Jan.
 
Hello hun. I am sorry to hear about your poor piggie.

I havent heard of rib surgery in piggies before. Hope it all goes well.

Just make sure you have a full post op plan in place, and stock up on things like Critical Care food in case she goes off her food.

Hand feeding an ailing piggy with Critical Care can really make all the difference in the outcome. Little but often, if necessary round the clock. Also make sure that you have probiotics handy to counter the effect on the guts of the antibiotics she will be on. You can get them over the internet when you google names like fibreplex or biolapsis.

Sophie is my first piggie i am only 12 and i know what to expect
i had a hamster who was on his death bed and he died in my lap
i'm just so worried i have been losing sleep and need to tell somebody and your those bodies
 
Poor Sophie and poor you. Try not to worry too much, vets are very experienced in operations and will do all they can to help Sophie. They will probably give her some pain medication after her operation to help her and give you lots of advice also.

You can always ask questions on here whenever you want. Lots of healing vibes to Sophie. Is that her in your avatar? She is a very beautiful Guinea Pig.

It sounds like you've done your research on syringe feeding. Maybe try giving her some fluids into the side of her mouth now so she learns that the syringe is not all bad yukky medicine!

right now she is on pain meds but it won't make her better it's just taking away the pain for a while she doesn't fight with me when it is time to take her meds
I did 3 months worth of research before i got her so i know what to do
and if she dies she will be out of pain and if she lives she will be out of pain because right now i just want her to be out of pain. (just not to die)!

today is Monday the 23 and i just took Sophie yesterday to the lady who will be keeping Sophie for a while before and after the surgery she is going to call me when she knows when she will be going under

I am so blessed right now 8...

i just found out that Sophie will be going into surgery sometime Saturday morning Please Pray

and the lady i got Sophie from said that another lady that used to live next to her but then moved out of state has donated the money i need for the surgery! THATS 100 DOLLARS!

i am deeply grateful
