My OH saw how upset I was over losing Lemmie and how miserable Squig was on his own so yesterday he came home with a little surprise. Meet Biscuit - 9wk old little boar with plenty to say for himself!

We introduced him and Squig on a brand new fleece blanket with some hay and toys for company. Things were a bit standoffish to begin with with lots of rumbling and attempts to mount Squig from the little 'un and some mutual curiosity from Squig.

But after a while they seemed to settle down together.

After a night together in the hutch things seem to be going well. Biscuit has decided the enclosed sleeping area is his, but Squig always preferred the log cabin anyway. They share the water, pellets and hay quite happily.

Some couch time, and a shared parsley donut, this evening suggested things might work out quite well...

They didn't stop talking to each other! I haven't heard Squig so talkative since his brother died xx>>>

AWWW - what a lovely little chap! And wonderful OH! x)

I am always amazed at the change when a bereft guinea pig comes to life agaain with a new friend!

Aww, he is adorable. I'm sure Squig is very grateful for a new friend and how thoughtful of your OH x x

Biscuit is gorgeous.. Looking forward to hearing how he progresses.

You're lucky to have such a thoughtful OH. :) How sweet.

And Biscuit is a little darling, by the looks of it.

So glad that they're getting along :)) it just makes you happy, when they're happy, doesn't it?

Thanks everyone - he is cute isn't he?! We're making sure Squig doesn't get jealous by making sure he gets his fair share of fuss too (and of course Squig is a cute boy as well - he looks like a squirrel when he cleans himself).

It's funny, he really wasn't sure what to make of this little squeaky thing that kept trying to get his attention and kept interrupting his eating of a grape (completely forgetting that he used to be a small squeaky thing himself rolleyes), but when we picked him up off the couch to put him back this evening he was looking for Biscuit and only piped down when I showed him I had Biscuit too.

I know it's early days but I'm hopeful they're going to be good friends. I couldn't bear the thought of Squig all on his own and pining away for his lost hutchmates so it's great to see him playing and talking away.

And yes, my OH is quite special too. Think I'll be keeping him x)

Awww bless them as long as they have 2 of everything then their shouldn't be any problems, so glad they have settled with each other well x
