After Smudgee's passing, we wanted to give another rescue guinea pig a second chance of happiness. I looked on Petfinder.com and saw a trio instead of a loner. Cavy Care (the guinea pig rescue) stated that she didn't want to separate a family. Families are a lot harder to adopt out, hence why they were in the rescue for 2 months, folks kept passing them up.

I felt sorry for these girls so I knew I had to adopt all three of them. I emailed Cavy Care, filled an application, and made an appointment to adopt the 3 love bugs over the past weekend. Long story short...they are now with me. In honor of Smudgee's memory.

Introducing: Aspen (Grey/White Crested Guinea Pig), Oakley (Brown Ridgeback Guinea Pig), and Patches (Mostly black w/white patches Silkie mix).

The 3 girls (approximately 8 mos) also were formely introduce to the herd (uneventful) and is living with the herd in their expanded cage.

Very cute but a bit disappointed that one doesn't have a tree in its name :inn:.

Ah this was lovely to read and watch. What a lovely thing you've done by adopting three piggies as opposed to one- at least the three girls have a forever home now. Smudgee will be looking down on you with pride knowing that you've not only helped one but three piggies. X my Mo is part ridgeback! They're lovely

LOL. We were trying to group the names by trio, we thought long and hard on the names. However the third tree name options weren't that great: Sycamore, Pine, Douglas, Columbine, etc.... we tried to name them after our states native trees. The name pPatches was fitting because Patches is sort of the odd guinea pig out among the trio. Oakley and Aspen are always cuddling together while Patches was by herself. She is the first piggie among the three to venture out and eat when they were in their midwest cage for a couple of days.

Yes, I would agree with you. I think Smudgee would be happy knowing that I rescued 3 more piggies. I had a moment when I vowed never to adopt another piggie and let my herd die out of old age because I couldn't take the pain of losing Smudgee. Then I realized if I didn't rescue Smudgee she could of been snake food.

This is my first Ridgeback guinea pig, they aren't common here in the US. I never even heard of Ridgebacks before.

I enjoyed every second. :)) Your new girls are so precious and I'd love to see some pics of them with the whole herd!

Pictures and videos are coming. I recorded the introduction. The video is being uploaded as we speak.

Well done if not greedy lol! I tried giving three of mine tree names but couldn't find anything really that suited them! I ended up with a Willow, Tansy and Bluebell as all at least botanical!

Beautiful piggies with a very loving owner! They're going to be very happy, thank you for sharing this x

Thank you. I definitely spoil my girls as much as I can. I try to rescue either through adoption or foster.

Lol. I already have a girl name Willow6 in the herd.

Probably not native to your state but I instantly thought of Sequoia. Doh. Patches is cute though

Aww they are all lovely. Patches is very cute, I love a patchy guinea pig for obvious reasons :)

Gorgeous girls. Congratulations on your new additions.

They're going to live a life of luxury with you and the other pigs.
