We are trying to bond our piggy Peanut with our bereaved Suzy (both females). Peanut came to live with us recently when her previous owner couldn't keep her anymore. She was a single piggy all 3 years that she lived with her previous owner. With the quarentine over we introduced Peanut to Suzy today in a bonding pen for a couple of hours then transitioned to a freshly cleaned C&C cage. They seem to be working out a hierarchy. There have been no signs of aggression. My only concern is that Peanut has been very vocal all day. Sounds like submissive squeals to me. I'm guessing it's because it's still very early in the bonding, Peanut is not used to living with another piggy, and perhaps she's just more vocal than Suzy. I hope she'll settle down a little though or ot will be hard to sleep.

Being vocal during a bonding is a generally a positive sign; they are communicating. Peanut is insecure and communicating that.

Your piggies will hopefully settle down and give you some periods of sleep. The post-intro full group establishing dominance phase lasts around 2 weeks but the roughest bit should be sorted in the first 2-3 days.

Bedroom bonding is not quite ideal, to be honest...

Thanks for the advice Wiebke. I reallly appreciate it! No worries, our piggies (including the two we're bonding) are actually all downstairs in our living room. (We don't have any piggies in our bedrooms). Our house is just kind of small, noise travels, and I'm a light sleeper so I hear everything, lol. But no worries. I'm just glad that they won't be lonely. So far, everything seems to be going well so hopefully they will decide to be cagemates.

Much quieter today. Things are going well. :)
