Sven’s weight loss

Oh no! I hope Sven soon gets better. My fingers are very firmly crossed and I am sending loads of healing vibes 4000 miles across the water! I agree you should try probiotics. Just a pinch in a small amount of water and syringed my vet said an hour before some say an hour after it all depends on what your vet says.

Sven is doing better this morning and eating some on his own again. I guess it was the pain meds making him so lethargic. I’ll ask the vet about the probiotics. His appointment is in 2 hours, I really hope they can drain the abscess or something. I’ve only had the little guy a month and he has captured my heart!

I'm glad for some encouraging news. I'm praying the vet has the wisdom to see what going on with Sven and will be able to prescribe what he needs to get back to his old self.

I just left Sven at the vet, they are going to put him under and remove the abscess or whatever it is. He said it will be a few hours.

Poor Sven but hopefully this will fix things! Theo sends his love and he'd even send him a piece of watermelon if he could manage to squash it into my computer and make it appear at your house x

I'm sure Sven will be fine! If Christian can come through an abscess op when the abscess is the size of an egg so can Sven. :)

Thanks for all the love! Still waiting to hear from the vet. It’s about 20min from home so I am just killing time shopping and having some lunch nearby. My mother-in-law has my kids so it’s kind of a nice break for me even though I am worried about my little guy!

Just caught up with your thread. Hoping you soon get the call to go and collect your little man xx

Sven made it through surgery, he is resting comfortably on the vet’s lap so he can monitor him while he is waking up. He said the abscess was mostly encapsulated and he removed some tissue around it to be sure he got it all. He will also stay on antibiotics for another 10 days. I can pick him up in about an hour!

Hooray!

Oh that is good news! You may have to syringe feed him for a couple of days (and nights!) while the anaesthetic makes its way out of his system and he may also have funny poops as the anaesthetic can do funny things to a piggie's insides!

Sven is home in his freshly cleaned cage with a buffet of hay and veggies! I asked the vet about syringe feeding him today and he said he might be too groggy until later tonight. Well, Sven proved him wrong and started munching away on hay on the car ride home! I told the vet I’m not happy about being a regular there and I hope not to see him for a long time!37E389C0-4523-45FE-AB37-11235FBEB31D.webp56544494-458F-4515-B15F-7223C2985776.webp
