Hi everyone

I have had some products delivered from GG and its says to clean boars grease gland with Swarfega. Is this correct? If so does anyone know where do you buy it from. I thought it was what car mechanics used to get the grease from their hands!! lol 98)

Thanks for any comments

Louise

yes that is correct and you are right it is the mechanics hand cleaner, I got mine from Tesco although if the grease gland is not too dirty I find the just for boars shampoo works fine

good luck bathing your babies ;D ;D ;D

You're right. I tried it after advice on here and it really works miracles. I got mine as Halfords tho now I know what it is I notice it in quite a lot of shops!

Funnily enough, I've just come back from the vets where on Thursday afternoon one of the nurses holds a clinic, and I took my 3 piggies in for teeth checks, claw clips, and I wanted her to check Basil's great gland which is very active. She trimmed some of the fur off then shampoo'd him and also suggested I could do it myself with swarfega - which I'd not heard of before. But how do you do it? Dampen just the greasy fur and rub it in? He wouldn't need an all-over bath with it, would he?
Thanks for any hints ...

Warm olive oil will often work if the patch is not too dense.Rub the oil in and leave on for approx.15 minutes, then wash off with warm water. No need to give a full bath, just the back end.

If this does not work, then you will have to resort to Swarfega, but I always try the oil first as it is much gentler,.

Thank you for this - certainly olive oil sounds more pleasant than Swarfega. He's o.k. now having been washed at the vets, but I'll certainly try this next time.
