Adult Guinea Pig
Truffle, our little brown guinea pig (with a couple of bronze flashes) has sadly died this afternoon. So we now have no guineas. : (
She was going to be 6 in a fortnight and I know that's old (none of our others have made it to that age) but she actually seemed as right as ninepence, apart from losing some weight. And I thought she might go on for a long time.
She'd been wheeking as usual this morning when I opened the back door (grass coming) or the fridge door (something else yummy from the veg drawer coming) and enjoyed her treats with gusto.
So I was really surprised and dismayed to see her laying in a place where she doesn't usually lay and not moving. She was still breathing at this point although she was very still, I could see her little body moving up and down. As she breathed it made a bit of click each time. I thought I would log into TGPF to ask for advice and while I was waiting for the computer to warm up I went back to see her and she was completely still. No movement. No click. Eyes open.
But then no drama, no trauma, hopefully no pain either. Poor sweet little Truffle, you had a lovely life with Molly, Minty, Bella (your twin), Rosie and Smudge. And when Smudge died last January and you were on your own, we brought you indoors where you adapted really well to inside life and you had a lovely summer going in the run whenever the weather allowed.
We will miss you so much. You were so loved

8...8...8... God Bless.
