Hi

Alicia, my daughter (aged 10) and Declan (aged 8) will be attempting to complete the “Swelter For The Shelter†challenge on the 13th & 14th September in order to raise funds for Guinea Pig Shelter Norwich.

Here at the shelter, we rescue and re-home guinea pigs in need, in the Norfolk area. Everything we do is self funded as we do not receive enough in donations each year to register as a charity.

Sponsored walk with a twist...

The children will not know where they will start from until they are dropped off by car, along with an adult to supervise. They will be equipped with camping equipment and a set of sealed rules. Once they are at the starting point they will have to devise their own route to the campsite they are booked into overnight. The following day they will have to make their way back from the campsite to the designated finish point.

Please please can you sponsor the children for taking part in this sponsored walk and orienteering challenge? Every donation, however small, will be gratefully appreciated.

All funds will be put towards neutering 6 singles boars we have here as my daughter dearly wants them to be able to live with a companion. Any money left over from these procedures will go towards the extra provisions we need for the coming winter months.

As a thank you for sponsoring them, Chrissie from Gorgeous Guineas has kindly sent us some gift vouchers that can be used on her website. Anybody from the forum who sends us a donation will be entered into the draw which will take place on the children's return on 14th september. The first name pulled from the box will receive a £10 voucher and the second person will receive a £5 voucher.

The link for the sponsorship form is ;

Alternatively, if you would like to send something by post, please pm me for address details.

Many thanks for your support.

I have no idea why Declan's age has not been included and replaced with a shades smilie. He finds it rather amusing as he'd like to consider himself kewl and trendy but to let you all know.....Declan is aged 8 years.

Thanks
Claire

Great idea Claire, will be intouch with ideas and promoting it. Just need 10 minutes away from children...lol

The campsite is booked, the kiddies are getting excited. Neither of them have camped out before so I don't think they realise what they're letting themselves in for! :x

I don't suppose they'll mind either way, but I shall keep fingers crossed that the weather remains dry for them - camping out in the wet to me would be torture!

Hi

Just a quick update.

We have an article going in this weeks local newspaper about the walk. The photographer came round yesterday and took the photos.

We have also heard back from a few of the large manufactuers and they have donated vouchers etc. Some of which we cannot use here as they are for rabbit food etc. Therefore, at some point soon I will be offering them for sale at a reduced price, in the for sale section.

It's not too late to sponsor us for the walk and every name will go in the hat to receive a gorgeous guineas gift voucher at the end. If you can only sponosr a pound it will make a difference. The link is at the top of this thread.

Many thanks
Claire
