I have always assumed it was okay to completely switch the guinea pigs food as they please but I've have just read a thread to suggest that you are supposed to gradually introduce a new brand of pellets but I can't find anymore information on this. I've always just swapped brands in one go so does anyone know more on this?

I think the gradual swap is just to make sure they don't get upset tummies which could result in problems with soft poop etc. If you're have always been fine just swapping then that's great, they obviously have sturdy tummies, it's more of just a precaution type thing I think :)

it is best to always do it gradually to avoid tummy issues/stress. the way you would introduce any new food really. you can go as slow as you need to, but alot do a change over across maybe ten days to two weeks usually. in pets with sensitive tums, then even longer will be better :)

Mine are on pellets, they moved from Burgess to Tesco with no problems. I'm currently trying them on Asda pellets which have the same ingredients. The difference being whereas the Burgess is £23 for 10kg, the Asda is only £10 for 10kg. ;)

Just so I know- my boys are currently on the excel with mint but I have just got some excel with blackcurrent.. With it being the same brand but different flavour, is it still best to change gradually? I've not got much of the mint ones left you see
