Swollen bottom

My 4 year old female guinea pig (I’m not actually sure how old she is because she is a rescue ) has a swollen bottom and is constantly bleeding from it . We are obviously going to a vet soon . She has never had a period . She also has bumble foot so I’m not sure if that’s to do with anything .But I just wanted to see what was going on with her

Unfortunately we can be of no help, she just really needs a vet ASAP! Guinea pigs don't have periods, so it's likely she has an infection. It could be reproductive tract or urinary. Bumblefoot could be down to a cut or wound on her foot becoming infected - keep her bedding incredibly clean, dry, deep and soft to take the pressure off a bit!

Ok she has an appointment very soon and do you know what is the best bedding . Because the is on soft paper bedding ?

Some good beddings are Carefresh, Kaytee Clean and Cozy, and any other paper based beddings.

Please see a vet ASAP as a life or death emergency!

Any bleeding and swelling of the bottom in sows is an emergency and needs to be seen very promptly if you want to give your piggy a chance. Sows come into season roughly every two weeks but they don't bleed. Any bleeding from the anus in sows is a sign of something seriously wrong in the reproductive tract.

Bumblefoot can happen as a result of an impacted immune system depending on what is going on elsewhere in the body that causes that. Otherwise it is unrelated.

Keep her on a towel or soft fleece and see what your vet says. Make sure that she is cosy and warm, but not hot until you can see a vet today.

She has been to the vets and they said Shen could have a urine infection and will be ok she was given metacam and will be ok !

I was just about to ask the same thing! Metacam is only a pain relief and anti inflamatory she may well need antibiotics to kill off the infection.

Metacam alone will not help.
She clearly has a serious health problem and it will not be sorted with pain relief - she really needs to see an expereinced vet who is used ot dealing with guinea pigs.
