My guinea pig is roughly 7 months old. He has no signs of pain or abnormal behavior. He is happy, talkative, energetic. He is still eating and drinking as normal. I checked on them and feed them about 2.5-3 hours ago. I came back to make sure everything was okay before I started working again. Einsteins little eye was a little swollen at the bottom. It isn't red and hair isn't falling out anywhere on his body. Is there anything that you can suggest me doing? I'm thinking it might be a piece of hay or maybe a scratch?

He looks like he may have conjunctivitis but needs to be seen by a vet for correct diagnosis and treatment. Eye injuries require urgent treatment so I would speak to your vet today

Try phoning your vet & ask if you can email these pictures to them to be triaged.
They'll probably prescribe eye drops (tiacil/isathal/clinigel) & a pain killer/anti inflammatory (loxicom).
You'll probably find you'll have the vet will phone you to discuss the eye & meds will be paid for over the phone, then collection from the vets car park if needed.

This was the system my vet used last week when my dogs cyst broke open.

Because its eyes you would be wise to get him seen this morning/today.
Eyes tend to heal either well& quickly or very slowly, with no end of complications. The quicker he's seen usually the more favourable the outcome.

A generic/non exotic vet would be ok as eyes are treated similarly no matter what species it is.

Fingers crossed he can be sorted, wishing a full & speedy recovery to a handsome little man  xx

When Christian had haypoke on Monday morning I phoned the vet and emailed pictures through, had a phone consultation with the vet and picked up some Isathal from the car park 10 minutes later. Eyes are an emergency and you shouldn't feel bad about contacting the vet.

Update:
We took him to the vet and he has a tumor along with conjunctivitis. We can either put him through surgery or put him down. Our vet said that the surgery will go fine without a worry but his recovery will be rough and stressful. He might pass during recovery. I don't know to do. I want him to be happy and not be in pain. We have medicine for the infection and long with the pain. The vet would like to schedule within the week to decide what we want to do. I am torn. How will either option effect his two brothers? What would everyone recommend? My husband says he wants to try the medicine and then out him down if he doesn't return to himself. I don't know what I want to do. I just do not want him to stress or be in pain.

So sorry it’s not the news you wanted. Did they give him any metacam for pain? I honestly can’t tell you what I would do. Only you can decide that.

@LizHatch sorry the news wasn't more positive :(

A few things are bothering me with the vets visit though..

How did the vet diagnose the tumour?
What tests did they do?
What medicine did they prescribe for the infection - was it antibiotic eye drops? Or oral medication?
How long did the vet think it would take to find out if an operation might be needed- is it the week?
Did the vet have experience with Guineas?

I don't want to give false hope, but here's a picture of my Tiggy, her eye came up like this within 24hrs

It looks similar to your gorgeous little man?

I gave Tiggy eye drops twice a day for 4 days & within 24hrs her eye looked like this

I'm afraid I can't remember which eye drops were used, probably either Tiacil or Clinigel as my old girl Orca is the queen of eye issues & we have a repeat prescription for either of these as she gets through so much!
I think Tiggy also had a weeks dose of Baytril twice daily too, to help with any infection.

She's never had any problems since (these photos taken in August 2019) her eyes look completely normal now.

Also Squiggle had a slightly different issue with her eye but the treatment was the same & she recovered within a few days too

I'd hate for you to go ahead with any surgery if not necessary :(

Check that your vet is experienced & competent on operating on guineas before giving the go ahead, also ask about post op care & see what they come back with.

Maybe even ask for a second opinion or book in with a different vet at the same practice, so it's not obvious your looking for alternative options.

Whatever you decide don't rush into surgery, without exploring other options first.

Healing vibes being sent your way & let us know how he gets on.
Xx

Oh & edit.. Too late to add on to my above post...
You mentioned about how would it affect his 2 brothers, does he live in a trio of Boars?
You might need to rethink their living arrangements as 3 boys rarely get along at the hormonal teenage stage, could it be they had a scuffle/dominance bout & accidently scratched his eye with a sharp toe nail & it's got a bit of infection there? Xx
