My guinea pig broke his nail a day ago. There was a bit of bleeding. I didn't see it happen. At the time, there was no swelling. I applied pressure to the nail and removed the broken part, and it was fine until today, when I noticed some swelling. I don't know if it's an infection or something else... What do I do?

Take your piggie to the vet for diagnosis and antibiotics if prescribed for infection.

Hi!

See a vet if in doubt, especially if the swollen part is reddish and hotter to the touch than the other toes.

Thank you all... No, his toe isn't hotter to touch, but it is reddish and slightly slanted...

If it is slightly slanted, I would definitely have him vet checked to make sure the toe isn’t broken or something. If so, he will benefit from some painkiller / anti inflammatory like metacam x
