thanks everyone

Her actual name is Pocca (short for Pocahontis (hope i spelt it right) cos she is a beautiful princess)

I will take a photo of her for you all when i do her feed later :) x

Here she is- just before being fed :)

what a cutie! We are all rooting for her to get better x

update- Poc still not eating on her own- but i noticed something very interesting....

She will take veggies out of my hand, but won;t eat them if they are infront of her and she still doesn't run away when being picked up like usual.

I have a suspision there is something wrong with her sight- I am getting her checked on thursday for blindness- it all makes sense- although i really hope she isnt :(

Sorry I have not commented earlier? which vets are you using? I use lucas at longwell green for minor things, but due to family connections I take my piggies to the CCT near huntingdon cambridgeshire. Vedra is a Rodentologist, But i would like to add that she has a vet would is also wonderful that visits regularly and works very closely with her. Unfortunately your nearest rodentologist as far as i am aware is near reading. If you have not changed her bedding already, I would change to fleece or old towels and change it atleast once a day. What creams are you using under the bandaging?

The trip very much depends on traffic but can be done in just under 3 hours....

still lying down all the time :( earlier i looked in and she was in her snuggle on her side- still enjoying the syringe feed though and ate a little cucumber too- just gotta wait to see what martin says at the vets- I go Emersons green xx

Vets isn;t til thursday :( :( :(thing is i could go earlier but i want to give the antibiotics as much time as possible to work.

Since syringe feeding her she has gained 70grams which doesn't sound a lot but considering she was skeletal and now has a little bit of fat on her again- any weight gain is good to me.

I just want her back to her normal self- I can't keep nursing her like this as i am going back to work on thursday on nights- i asked if i could take her with me and they won;t let me which has annoyed me all the times i have helped them! I have already had to cancel a few overtime shifts to nurse her but i just want her to be my poccing baby again :)

Pocca

Unfortunately Pocca became seriously ill in 2 hours- her foot doubled in size (double the swollen size), she lost her sight, she lost a lot of weight and became incontinent.

She was rushed into the vets and i was given 3 options- a new course of antibiotics which he said would probably work for a little while but would not clear the infection as it had spread, ambutate her leg or PTS.

I decided to PTS and let the poor piggie rest, when he gassed her to sleep she was so weak she lost all control of her bodily functions and her body and he told me then that she would not survive the surgery.

I held her in my arms and told her how much me and martyn loved her and i let her go.

thank you so much for all your advice x

Sorry you lost your piggy, I was really hoping for a good result! How are her cagemates coping?

Hi Emma,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Poc sounds like such a special girl. I hope her babies continue to thrive and bring you happiness.
My message the other night must have made no sense, I thought this was martyn's thread and I'd been calling him she. Apologies for the confusion.
Best wishes to you both at this difficult time. x

Sorry you lost your piggy, I was really hoping for a good result! How are her cagemates coping?

Luckily her babies have been separated for quite some time and the same for her cage mates- i had to keep her on her own for Observation of things like whether she was eating, drinking, pooing and weeing- that sort of thing.

spoke to vet now- could be infection, broken or dislocation and will be seeing him again tomorrow for xray :(

she had to have 2 injections and she cried out so loud :(

Hi Mart I was just wondering what it ended up being as my little baby has the same **** with her leg and I'm taking her to the vet on Monday but would like to have information to tell the vet so he doesn't get it wrong thanx

I am so sorry I am new to this and I realized there was a few pages of thread. I am also so sad for you for your loss and now for my daughter take care x
