My guinea pig Jet has a rather sensitive stomach which I have been adjusting her diet to. Now and then she has diarrhoea which only lasts for a day or two.

Recently I noticed she has a rather swollen stomach, along with this diarrhoea (loose stools but not liquidy). It has gone down but I am unsure how to handle this. She is not in pain and is eating fine.

I have purchased some gripe water. I am not 100% she has excessive gas, but is it safe for me to give to her regardless? And what could the problem be?

It does sound like possible bloat, I would get her to a vet just in case, bloat can come on rapidly & if the abdomen swells it can cause gut torsion which is usually fatal :(

Please see a vet if she has bloating on top of a sensitive tummy. Cut out all fresh veg and grain beased pellets and if necessary top her up with syringe feed to help the tummy settle. Gripe water may not be enough and she may require more support for bloat.
