Hi everyone! So my pair of brother have had some
sort of issue arise with their feet and I'm honestly puzzled as to what could be causing this. A few months back I posted a form regarding my piggie gumball and a massive infection on his toe which led to amputation of said toe after a failed attempt of antibiotics but thankfully he is doing amazing and pathology came back clear! However what is concerning is the vet said he had never seen anything like his case as it turns out the entire bone was almost like disintegrated? Now with his brother Darwin I'm concerned because upon examination of one of his front toes it slightly crooked and pretty swollen. I would like to note that my toe boys are rescues and my only knowledge of their background is that they were in the care of a three year old so when I had initially gotten them Darwin's toe was ever so slightly crooked which the vet cleared up in his health check but over time it's gotten worse and the swelling specifically is making me worried. Is there any possible condition that is genetic that could be causing this? For care background I'm on top of their nail trimmings every month, I use fleece bedding, deep cleanings for cage are once a week with spot cleaning daily, a mix of veggies and pellets are given twice a day, and I feed a mix of orchard grass and Timothy. Thank you so much in advance, I'm scheduling a vet appointment ASAP I'm just curious about any possibilities or concerns that I should bring up with the vet :(!IMG_6124.webp

Hi

What you have been dealing with in the first case has been unusual and very extreme.

Please have the toe vet checked again if things have not settled down as expected but have got worse. It is normal to have the jitters after a bad experience and to be much more sensitive but that doesn't mean that some could not be wrong.

Are your two boys related or just bought together?
