Hello,
During the week I noticed that my guinea pigs toenail on his left front foot seems to be swollen and i’m not sure why. I don’t know whether or not to take him to the vet or how to cure this. I put him in a small salt-foot-bath twice daily as that is what the internet suggested but I can’t tell if anything is happening. If anyone has had similar experience or knows any remedies or bad advice that would be very much appreciated.
I have attached photos of the foot.

It looks like he's damaged the toe. I would pop him to the vets when they're open again. They will at least give him some pain relief.

I agree - a vet trip is needed.
Hope it’s nothing serious.
Let us know how you get on

Hello, so I took him to the vet and she decided it was either a broken toenail or bumble foot so he is on antibiotics and painkillers.
But this morning I woke up to him and he has done four poops overnight. This is extremely not normal for him as usual it would be ten, even fifteen times this amount. I’m worried that the medicine is making him constipated. Any advice?

Antibiotics can upset their tummies. Probiotics are often given alongside antibiotics to help them still want to eat. Guinea pigs don’t suffer from constipation (impaction happens though), so if he is pooping less, it probably means he isnt eating enough. You can’t gauge their hay intake by eye, so weigh your piggy daily so you can monitor his food intake. Speak to your vet a probiotic and it would be worth stepping in with support feeding if he isn’t eating enough.

Perhaps ring your vet and ask about it? Also, do you use bedding or fleece as the poops may have been buried under the bedding
