As you may have heard, one of my guinea pigs, Thora, passed away last week. My remaining piggy Sybil seems to be doing so well. We have been giving her lots of extra cuddles and buying her treats. She is eating and drinking well and has made herself a little nest in the hay to curl up in at night

Glad that Sybil is not pining! That is always such a relief!

In the longer I would still recommend to look for another guinea pig or two to either rescue date or to have as next door cage neighbours (if a home bonding doesn't work out) with interaction and constant stimulation through the bars. Guinea pigs depend on this ongoing stimulation and the lack of it can cause depression in the longer term while the presence of a companion/neighbour can significantly prolong life.

Clinginess, attention seeking and becoming more withdrawn when you are not there to provide the stimulation she needs are signs that she is in need of more piggy company.

Glad she’s not getting seriously depressed.
She will need piggy companionship though.
Have you thought about what you want to do?
When my Merab was left alone I decided to get 2 baby girls so that if the bonding didn’t work they would still have each other.
I was lucky in that Merab was so pleased to have more guinea pigs that she took to the youngsters immediately, mothered them and we had 3 very happy piggies
