Incredibly long shot but does anyone know anyone in the Cambridgeshire area who can help with a few days of syringe feeding for a guinea pig with mouth/dental problem while I am away?! We have been syringe feeding for 2 weeks as he is unable to eat otherwise, though is otherwise doing well and Vedra at Cambridge cavy trust has seen him twice, she is not entirely sure of diagnosis and has been monitoring while I give meds and is seeing him tomorrow to re check his teeth but is suddenly unable to take him for a few days whilst I am away. I know this is a very long shot but thought I'd try!

I don't I am afraid. I would suggest getting him checked out by Simon Maddocks if possible - a vet in Northampton who is regarded as one of the best in the country when it comes to dental work @furryfriends (TEAS) runs a guinea pig dental sanctuary and works very closely with Simon

I don't I'm afraid, but just wanted to suggest maybe asking CCT if they can suggest anyone as an alternative...or wondered if there's a guinea pig rescue near you? The one we got Elvis from also does boarding as a way of bringing in more income (and are happy to syringe/give medication if need be)
Finally, my vet does boarding for animals who are on medication - so trying a few local vets to you may be worth a try too.
Sorry I haven't got anything specific for you, but just maybe some avenues to try. x

Hi thank you so much for replying and advice. Vedra at CCT is trying other people I think but I guess this time of year at short notice is tricky. Will see what she says when I see her later - am going abroad early tomorrow morning, so need to try to sort something fast he's doing so much better but just unfortunately not yet able to eat unaided

Mary H is a highly expeanced pigy keeper and would be well within traveling distance to you! That's assuming she still do's pig boarding ! And assuming you can get contact details

Anyone! Is Mary h still a member?

If there was more time, I would offer to have him here at TEAS and we could then get him seen by Simon Maddock. I am rather concerned that he is still not eating, despite having had a couple of dentals. I think something may be being missed. Simon is amazing and has transformed the lives of so many piggies with dental issues, after they have made no progress going elsewhere.
