A few days ago my pig Pumpkin was put on Baytril for a URI and I'm having an absolute nightmare getting her to take it. I've tried swaddling her to no avail. How do you guys do it?!

I read on here the other day that baytril tastes disgusting and that someones vet recommended giving the dose of baytrill with an equal amount of undiluted ribena - I would check this with others and ask your own vets advice though - I am sure others will be on here soon to give you advice

My vet suggested the same thing, but I don't think it's the taste that's the problem, more like getting the darn thing in her mouth in the first place!

I've had to syringe my pigs LOADS of times, when they were on Baytril the vet also advised equal amount of ribena. I used to lift up there heads and quickly release the liquid. Or put your piggy on a table kneel on the floor so you can see the mouth and quickly do it. I once gave my pig some romaine lettuce and whilst his mouth was open chewing i got it in! :)) You & your pigs will get used to it.

I can vouch and say Baytril IS disgusting, i got some on my finger once and liked it off without thinking. It. Burns.

One thing i've found that makes it easier to get meds into piggies is pressing the tip of the syringe agasint the teeth and wriggling the tip, it makes them start chomping and you can slip it in. If you keep ocilating the syringe whilst it's in his mouth then he will continue a hewing motion on down it all goes.

Theres nothing worse than when they dribble it back out.

I've given baytril hidden in banana and strawberry smoothie. That worked very well; the dose was 0.1ml baytril so I made it up to 0.4ml with the smoothie mixed together in an eggcup and gave it in two 0.2ml mouthfuls.
